“Anything I do, I do a lot of,” says Mike Snyder, confessing that he has planted more than 150 clematis in his Beaverton garden. All his climbing roses have at least one clematis companion. Clematis scramble through his shrubs, climb up trellises, twine their way up sixteen arches and travel up several obelisks.
Mike will open his garden as part of the Inviting Vines Garden Tour this Saturday, May 27 from 10 to 4, to benefit The Rogerson Clematis Garden. Although clematis contribute plenty of color throughout the garden season, Mike loves all manner of flowering plants, including roses, lilacs, perennials, annuals, and vegetables. A green tapestry grows harmoniously, covering every inch of earth in this beloved garden.
Benches invite visitors to rest and take in the scents of roses, mock orange and sweet peas. Many of the garden’s features hark back to Mike’s travels or hold memories of friends. The garden is full of meaningful stories and if you are lucky, Mike will share a few with you!
